The Northern Neck Audubon Society (NNAS) recently presented a donation to the Friends of Dragon Run, a group committed to the preservation of the Dragon Run wilderness area.

The 203-acre Dragon Run wilderness area in the Middle Peninsula is a unique ecosystem which has been ranked second in ecological significance among 232 areas investigated in a Smithsonian Institution study of the Chesapeake Bay region.

NNAS’s donation will be used by the Friends of Dragon Run to help purchase 103 additional acres adjacent to their Big Island property.
