Speaker: Caledon State Park Ranger Sammy Zambon

On Monday, March 1st, the Northern Neck Audubon Society will host a program on owls to be presented by Caledon State Park Ranger Sammy Zambon.

Ranger Zambon has been with the Virginia State Parks for 6 years, one summer as a Park Naturalist Interpreter and five and a half years as Chief Ranger at Caledon State Park located in King George, VA. Caledon is a designated National Natural Landmark located on the Potomac River near Dumfries, west of Rt. 301 and the Potomac River Bridge.

In his program, Ranger Zambon will give an overview of Virginia owls, which will include information about their habitat, calls physical appearance, diet, threats to their survival, population of the different species and other interesting facts. Afterwards, Mr. Zambon will take participants to the edge of the parking lot adjacent to the woods and he will call for owls.

This program is open to the public and will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock. Refreshments will be served.
