Where: Grace Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock, VA Program: Gardening To Attract Hummingbirds Speaker: Virginia Master Naturalist, Fawn Palmer On Monday, June 7th, the Northern Neck Audubon Society will host a program, "Gardening for Hummingbirds in Our Area" to be presented by Fawn Palmer. Palmer, a Virginia Master Naturalist, is presently a National Park guide and interpreter at George Washington Birthplace National Monument. She has also served in that capacity at Fire Island National Seashore Park and at Westmoreland State Park. She has served on the National Capital Park and Planning Commission in Maryland and as an estuarine educator for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The program will provide information on which native and garden plants provide a succession of blooms rich in natural nectar that will attract hummingbirds to your yard. Palmer will have several of the best hummingbird "magnet" plants on display. Selected video segments from the newly released PBS Nature program will be shown. This program is open to the public and will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock. Refreshments will be served. |
