Paula Teeples, Barbra Bernhardt and Luci York presented this exquisite King Carter Quilter's "Birds and Flowers" quilt to the Northern Neck Audubon Society at its December meeting. For more then a decade, the KCQ group has made quilts for local organizations to use as fundraisers. NNAS approached the quilters with a request for a quilt several years ago, and then took its place in line behind other worthy organizations. Once the work was underway, the quilt was two years in the making. But it was well worth the wait! The pattern of Birds and Flowers was designed by Bea Oglesby. The entire quilt is done by hand except for the sashing. The appliqud birds were done using an appliqu method new to the group, which was introduced by member Barbra Bernhardt. The KCQ currently has 13 quilters and is always looking for more members. For more information about KCQ contact Jean Ward at 438-5509. NNAS members Paul and Jessica Servis will head up the committee charged with marketing the quilt
