Ground Water Festival - September 27& 30

 


The 2004 Ground Water Festival for the Sixth Graders in Lancaster (27th) Northumberland (30th) counties will be held at Camp Kittamaqund in Burgess. The children will be bused to the Camp where they will participate in a variety of hands-on science activities related to protecting the Water Shed and Ground Water.

Staffing for the day is provided by volunteers from numerous groups throughout both counties and include:

· Teachers and assistants for the hands-on science activities
· Escorts to accompany small groups of children (less than 12) throughout the day
· Lunch staffing (pizza, cookie, and soda)
· Signs and cleanup

Please consider giving a day or two to this very worthwhile project. The approximate time involved is from 9:00-2:30 with lunch provided.

But more important is staffing the day. Teachers and assistants are needed for 6-7 hands-on science activities as well as escorts to accompany small groups of children throughout the day. That is a total of between 36 and 42 adults to work with and escort students each day.

Lancaster County students will attend the camp on September 30 Northumberland County students will attend on October 2nd. (A rest day has been provided for the staff that works both days.)
