A Snake's Mistake By Ellis Squires
Our friends at the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro report an unusual patient this past summer.

They report that a snake was found in a hen house with a strange looking lump in the middle of his body. The farmer who discovered him realized what might have happened. He had placed several golf balls into his hen's nests to encourage his pullets to lay, and the black rat snake must have eaten a golf ball instead of an egg. The snake underwent surgery to remove the golf ball at the Wildlife Center, and after four weeks recuperating, the snake was set free.
